Market Research Data Subjects

lookout processes personal data for the purpose of conducting independent market and social research.

This is most often on behalf of another/other organisation(s), where they have a need for their research to be conducted independently. However, on occasion lookout also conducts its own research.

We may also conduct research on behalf of another organisation because we have specific research expertise or resource that the other organisation may not hold to conduct the research sufficiently.

This personal data may be linked to your responses to our research questions, which may include but are not limited to: experiences, perceptions, behaviours and attitudes. However, your responses will not be linked to your personal data when reported unless we get specific consent from you to do this. Your responses may be linked to your demographic details when reported, but we will take our best action to ensure that these demographics do not make you identifiable.

The right to be informed:

The processing of personal data for research purposes by lookout is transparent. Where we are collecting personal data from data subjects, you will always be informed of or have access to the following information in order to make sure you are provided with your individual rights and are fully informed about the data that we are or will be processing about you. Personal data is not processed in any way which is incompatible with that which you have been informed about, without further consent.

Before taking part in research, data subjects are informed:

• Who lookout is, and the contact details of a lookout researcher related to the research being conducted;
• What lookout is asking them to take part in and give us their data for; who the data is being collected for (where the client has not requested anonymity); why we are collecting the data; what the data will be used for; and the lawful basis for processing their personal data;
• If we are acting as a third-party data processor, and are contacting people whose data has been shared with us, we inform the data subject which organisation has shared their data with us along with their contact details. In this case, we inform them why their data has been shared and what we are using it for;
• That lookout and its partners comply with the GDPR;
• If the data subject’s personal data may be shared with a third-party data processor, data subjects will be informed.

We also collect, use and share Aggregated Data such as statistical or demographic data for any purpose. Aggregated Data may be derived from your personal data but is not considered personal data in law as this data does not directly or indirectly reveal your identity. For example, we may aggregate Data Subjects’ Usage Data to calculate the percentage of users accessing a specific website’s feature. We also process feedback that you provide about our candidates. If you provide information to us about a candidate (for example, if you confirm a candidate has worked with you or if you provide a reference), then we will obtain your details from the candidate and we will keep a record of the personal data that you provide to us about that candidate. 

We process personal data about you from public domain sources such as LinkedIn and social networking sites or because you were a delegate at an event where the event organiser is permitted to share delegate details with us.
